Visa på X →Visa på X →There are moments in life when we must make difficult choices. Not because we are compelled to – but because they are right.
This is one of those choices. One that has slowly matured over years.
Already in 2018, I understood: politics is a relay. And the baton must be passed – in time, and with grace.
So how do you summarize something that isn’t over yet?
I still have more than a year left in this mandate, and I intend to honor every moment of it.
Perhaps there’s one last summit to reach. But the Center Party’s nomination process begins this summer, and silence would not be fair.
New voices deserve the space to grow. Fair play. This is not a farewell – it’s a signal to those who must prepare.
Serving in the Swedish Parliament has been – after becoming a father – the greatest privilege of my life.
Who could have imagined that a boy from the dusty alleys of southern Tehran would one day be entrusted with power in the country that gave him a future?
How have I carried that trust? That is for others to judge. But I know this: I never took it for granted.
I carried it for Sweden. For the Stockholm region. For the Center Party – the party that welcomed me 23 years ago and changed the course of my life. And above all: for you. Regardless of where you live. Regardless of who you are.
Over the years, I have:
– Blocked the march of racism into the halls of power
– Helped shape one of the boldest labor market reforms of our time
– Defended the right to asylum when it stood on the edge
– Spoken with passion – not prestige – in countless debates and proposals
This term, I chose to focus on national security, alongside my work in housing policy.
I named – publicly – the forces seeking to destabilize Sweden through organized crime, espionage, attempted assassinations, and hostage diplomacy.
I have fought for freedom – at home and abroad – and I have lived with the consequences:
Death threats. Smear campaigns. A protected identity – for my family and me. All of it.
But I am not leaving because I am weary.
Nor because I have been broken.
I leave because this chapter is nearing its end – and it is time for others to begin theirs.
I remain the same Alireza.
Perhaps more weathered. But more grounded. More resolute.
Thank you – to each of you who believed in me, supported me, challenged me.
Thank you for the conversations. The meetings. The laughter. The insight. The tears.
And to those who tried to silence me: you failed. I’m still here – stronger than ever.
What lies ahead, I don’t yet know.
But this much is certain: I am not done.
Not with politics. Not with the fight for freedom, for dignity, and for equality.
This is not goodbye. This is: until we meet again.
And finally – I believe in a bright future for the Center Party, if we have the courage to keep standing up for what is right. For decency.
For the belief in every human being – the belief that helped me find my second home.
And for the conviction that freedom, despite all its burdens, is worth everything.
To those who take over the baton – carry it with pride, and with brilliance.
To all I’ve had the privilege of working with – thank you. No names. No one forgotten.
But before I say farewell – we have an election to win.
Visa på X →Masoud Pezeshkian – you talk of reform while holding a Swedish citizen hostage.
Dr. Ahmad Reza Djalali is innocent. His blood will be on your hands.
Free him now – or be remembered as just another coward serving tyranny. I will neither forgive or forget. @drpezeshkian

Visa på X →Tel Aviv, Israel—dismissed by the Islamic Republic as "enemy land," a nation they claim has no right to exist. Yet here I am again—for the sixth time in just a short period—because in moments of clarity, Israel stands as one of the few nations that truly understand what’s at stake. They recognize, when others don't, what any agreement with the Islamic Republic would cost the Iranian people, who continue to fight tirelessly for their freedom.
Visa på X →President Trump doesn't know what he is doing. If there is a deal, the freedom movement will suffer a huge blow. Witkoff is an amateur, a candy bar for the Islamic Republic. My regards to you @Najibnaik from Tel Aviv.
Visa på X →
Visa på X →Visa på X →Is your point that I don't write about them because they might be monarchists? In that case, you are wrong. I really don't care what the people's political beliefs are, as long as they support democracy and freedom. I don't have anything against the constitutional monarchy, If that's what the people of Iran want. It's not my place to have any opinions about that. Clear?

Visa på X →I just saw the uplifting news that the terrorists who, on behalf of the Islamic Republic, plotted to assassinate Iranian journalist and women's rights activist @AlinejadMasih have been convicted by a federal U.S. court.
Masih has long been a powerful voice in the fight for girls' and women's rights to equality and freedom. It is clear that the Islamic Republic views her as a threat to their medieval rule.
Now, regardless of political affiliation, let us unite in strong support of the right to free expression and every woman's right to self-determination. This is truly a victory for freedom.
Visa på X →@AlinejadMasih It is extremely gratifying that these terrorists have been convicted. Keep being a strong and vital voice for the Iranian freedom movement.
