Unanimously adopted EPP resolution on the situation in Georgia.

The @EPP has now unanimously adopted a resolution on the situation in Georgia. EPP is calling for new elections and the immediate release of all political prisoners. EPP is recognising @Zourabichvili_S as the legitimate President of Georgia and calls for sanctions on Ivanishvili.

Mzia Amaglobeli must be released immediately. The arbitrary arrests of her and other Georgians are appalling. The belarusification of Georgia is happening in front of us. Europe must act accordingly, demanding new elections and the unconditional release of political prisoners.

Inleder arbetsåret i Bryssel och möte med EPP:s politiska församling. Ett par timmar viks åt diskussioner med kommissionen, parlamentet och medlemspartier om hur vi skyddar vår europeiska demokrati från påverkan och propaganda utifrån. Yttrandefrihet utan naivitet är ledorden.

Honoured to be the Swedish signer of this important statement on the alarming development in Georgia. The ongoing crackdown on peaceful protests is appalling. GD and its oligarch are now making Georgia a satellite state to Putin. This is unacceptable for a European country.

The announced visit by OSCE PA President @PiaKauma to Georgia is a mistake. It will only play in the hands of the Kremlin-backed, unlawfully appointed regime in Tbilisi. The right thing to do now is to cancel the visit and join the majority of Georgians calling for new elections.

Europe is Georgia, and Georgia is Europe. I showed my support with Georgia in Tbilisi some days ago. Many nights will follow — and we’ll be with you all the way. New elections, security for the president, no arbitrary detentions and the security of the president are crucial.

As long as the GD is moving Georgia away from the European path – against the will of the people – and continues with crackdown on peaceful protests and detention of journalists, Georgian credentials to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe should not be ratified.

The belarusification of Georgia continues.
